Blacon Handbell Ringers

Blacon Handbell Ringers were formed in 1972, as Blacon High School Handbell Ringers, with the express purpose of raising money for local charities. This they have continued to do so each year since their inception and have to date donated over £50, 000 in this way. The money has been raised each Christmas by ringing in local hotels. As well as concert tours and television appearances the teams spends a great deal of time ringing in and around Chester at community groups such as Rotary, Lions, Townswomens' Guilds and Womens' Institutes. They also entertain Senior Citizens, Groups with Special Needs and patients in hospitals.

In the spring and summer season they perform at weddings. In some cases they are just booked to play 'peals' where the church has no tower bells and at other times they perform tune ringing either outside the church or at the reception.

( as from September 1999)

• Evening performances for Community groups .........£55
• Weddings 'peals only' ........................................£45
• Weddings 'tune ringing' .....................................£60
• Charities, Senior Citizens etc.  ................................Travelling expenses + donation
• Commercial organisations ................................................Subject to agreement

  All travelling expenses are calculated at 25p. per mile
